We posted a question in another Facebook group this morning. Asking for feedback from CERTIFIED NURSE MIDWIVES.
Instead we received responses/personal opinions from uninformed doulas and they were alarming!!
We value our clients and always strive to give potential clients the best advice as well as point them in the right direction. So that they can make their own Informed decisions before choosing a birth doula(EVEN IF ITS NOT US).
The lack of knowledge displayed by so called "birth workers" is frightening!!
For the record there is a major difference between a CNM(certified nurse midwife) and CPM(certified professional midwife). A CNM has years of clinical experience as well as an advanced nursing degree. That is why they are allowed in hospitals, birthing centers and homebirths!
A CPM has none of that and can only support in a low risk homebirth.
There are high risk factors that can prevent a woman from having a homebirth. It's important for women to speak to an educated provider and arm themselves with facts before making any decisions. .
Our team at One Honest Doula will fully support a birth whether it's medicated, unmedicated, hospital, birthing center, homebirths etc.
We believe in educating our clients as well as continued education for ourselves. This allows us to ensure that we are putting the right plan in place for our clients to have a positive outcome.
Make sure that whomever you choose to support you at birth is
A) respecting your choices
B) not violating your privacy with their posts on social media
C) Not pushing their personal preferences on your birth plan.
D) Last but so important...MAKE SURE THAT THEY ARE EDUCATED AND INFORMED TO BE ABLE TO SUPPORT YOU.
